Waves
From the motion of overlapping sine waves emerges a continuous flowing pattern. Although the direction of the movement is unchangeable, the complexity of the pattern at times generates apparent receding swirls, along with changes in rhythm, scale, and detail, that make of this an extremely complex system to gaze, one that demands careful observation, almost deep viewing. Even after a procedural close reading, Waves reserves a wealth of surprises, as due to its stochastic nature it ceaselessly stirs up new forms and patterns that are never quite the same. Waves is therefore truly a motion painting, always mutating and shifting, but always retaining its structure.
